Welcome to My Year in Live Music, a photo documentary of my live music experiences from the past year. Starting with the Arrogance show in Raleigh on May 13, 2017, the live-music chase has taken me to intimate venues from Decatur, GA, to Saxapahaw, NC, to Manhattan’s Alphabet City. The photos here represent my best attempt to honor the remarkable artists who breathe life into the listening rooms, music halls, saloons and outdoor theaters all over the country. These troubadours create live experiences that engage our senses in ways technology hasn’t replicated. It is a high calling. I hope my project inspires some of you to dial up the events calendar in your town and find a live show you can attend tonight. Meantime, I’m still working to squeeze in a few shows before my 365-day tour closes. As Hank used to say, if the good Lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll have a few more photos to post here soon. Please stay in touch via the contact form, or you can reach me on Instagram, @rtvmp.
